At this stage children are becoming creative thinkers. They use words pictures and objects (symbols) to communicate and develop their own ideas through pretend play. Imaginary themes like Dogs, Cats, Food, Cars and Farm animals, promote symbolic thinking as children transform slides, tunnels, climbers and balance beams into dog houses, fire engines, and their favorite animals. Picture cards, puppets and special props encourage language development and social interaction with peers.
